Where (when and why) to watch the 94th Academy Awards in 2022

The Academy Awards are upon us again, and while the fancy A-list chook raffle has lost a lot of its appeal for some, the rest of us still enjoy the celebration of movies, red carpet FASHUN and high potential for celebrity D-RAAAMAAA.

So here’s the good word on when, where and why to watch the 94th Academy Awards in the year 2022.

CODA is one of the many Best Picture nominees for the 94th Academy Awards in 2022.

WHERE?

AND WHY?

Quite a few reasons, actually. For a start, the Oscars have stopped that whole eerie “no host” thing and this time around we’ve got THREE in the form of Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes and Amy Schumer!

Plus there are going to be live performances, comedic interludes and probably a bunch of celebrities shooting one another vicious side-eye for various reasons, both professional and personal. Basically how things used to be before spicy cough ruined the last couple of years.

But, look, aside from that, there is a WEALTH of excellent films and an embarrassment of acting riches to celebrate here. Check out this absurdly stacked list:

And that’s not even including all the writers, supporting actors, composers, artists, musicians and crew members who basically keep movies, good movies, feeling like magic. And that’s something always worth celebrating.

So, yeah, the Oscars are less popular than they once were and it IS kinda weird that an industry expects us to watch them handing out gold stars to one another. But the magic is still there, in its best moments, and it’s nice to be able to take a look at that from time to time.

Plus, you know someone's going to dress like a total gronk and that will be a hoot to see!
