Wheelchaired man dies after hit by NSW ute

A 73-year-old man in a wheelchair who was hit at a western Sydney intersection by a car driven by a 22-year-old man has died in hospital overnight.

Emergency services were called to Merrylands West intersection after a Toyota Hilux dual cab utility struck the man in his motorised wheelchair about 5pm Thursday.

The 73-year-old was taken to Westmead Hospital where he later died, while the driver was taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing, police said Friday.
