What to watch on Netflix: New TV shows and movies, plus what's leaving in August 2024
Macaulay Culkin's "Home Alone" movies and "The Devil Wears Prada" are being removed from Netflix, while "Emily in Paris" and "The Umbrella Academy" return
While fan-favourite shows come back to Netflix in August, like Emily in Paris and the final season of The Umbrella Academy, some beloved movies and TV shows will also be leaving the streaming site in Canada next month. This includes the Macaulay Culkin hits Home Alone and Home Alone 2, The Devil Wears Prada with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, and Jurassic Park.
August marks the removal of several film franchises on Netflix, including Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones. On August 1, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, will all be removed from the streaming site. But they are available on Disney+ instead.
Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2 and Despicable Me 3 are also being removed from Netflix, as well as the first three Expendables movies, starring Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham.
For comedy fans, Anger Management, starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson, is leaving Netflix at the beginning on August, along with Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Rush Hour.
In addition to The Devil Wears Prada being removed from Netflix, We're the Millers with Jennifer Aniston, The Vow with Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, Two Weeks Notice starring Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant, and The Perfect Match wth Cassie Ventura and Terrence Jenkins, are leaving the site as well.
One of the most iconic horror films, the late Wes Craven's Scream, with Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Skeet Ulrich, Drew Barrymore, Rose McGowan, Matthew Lillard and Jamie Kennedy, won't be available to stream on Netflix in Canada as of August 2.
Additionally, David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is being removed from Netflix on August 1.

What to watch on Netflix: New TV shows and movies
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder — August 1
Wednesday star Emma Myers leads A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, a six-episode murder-mystery series, based of the book of the same name by Holly Jackson.
Pip Fitz-Amobi (Myers), a 17-year-old, is determined to investigate a five-year-old murder case of schoolgirl Andie Bell. While it's believed her boyfriend Sal Singh killed her, Pip isn't so sure.
The Umbrella Academy Season 4 — August 8
The Umbrella Academy Season 4, the final season of the series based on the comics by Gerard Way, returns in just over a week.
Entering a new timeline, with a new set of forces and the Hargreeves starting the season with no powers, the stakes are particularly high.
The new and final season also marks the introduction of new characters played by Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, married community college professors Dr. Jean Thibodeau and Dr. Gene Thibodeau.
Daughters — August 14
A documentary created over the course of eight years of filming, Daughters follows four young girls who are preparing for a Daddy Daughter Dance with their incarcerated fathers.
The event in a Washington, D.C. jail is part of the work of Angela Patton, CEO of Girls for a Change, working to foster father-daughter bonding and strengthening family relationships.
Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 1 — August 15
While we've been hooked watching American Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) navigate life in Paris, in Season 4 of Emily in Paris she'll be exploring more of what Europe has to offer, from the French Alps to Rome. After three seasons of the show, we're also moving away from the flowery Parisian summer and showing the city throughout the winter season.
With the last season ending as Emily finds out her friend Camille (Camille Razat) and Emily's on-and-off love interest Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) are expecting a baby together, it's set to be a dramatic and chaotic season. Of course, with some of the best fashion to hit the small screen.
Season 4, Part 1 will be released on August 15, with Part 2 coming in September.
Kaos — August 29
Jeff Goldblum stars in Kaos, a twist on greek mythology where Zeus (Goldblum) is trying to hold on to his power amid a plot to take him down.
The series also stars Janet McTeer, Nabhaan Rizwan, David Thewlis, Cliff Curtis, Debi Mazar, Aurora Perrineau, Leila Farzad and Misia Butler.
