Queensland family fishing trip takes terrifying turn

Fourteen family members have been rescued from a charter boat that caught fire and sunk off the Queensland coast.

They climbed into a tinnie to escape the flames, only to be thrown into the water when it capsized, police say.

A 74-year-old man is being treated for exhaustion and hypothermia after being airlifted to Gladstone Hospital.

Two men were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Paramedics say the other 11 escaped without injury after the boat caught fire some 20 nautical miles off Gladstone on Monday morning.
