A 4-year-old girl has been flown to hospital after a 1000-litre water tank fell off a vehicle and crushed her legs.

A spokesman for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter says their crew was called to a property near Yippin Creek, west of Port Macquarie, on Saturday morning.

"Initial indications were the little girl suffered suspected serious injuries when a large water tank carrying 1000 litres of water fell off a vehicle (and) on to her," the spokesman said in a statement.

The girl was treated at the scene by paramedics before she was flown to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition, where she will be treated for non-life threatening leg fractures.
