Watch: Trump White House holds first briefing amid flood of executive orders
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt held the Trump administration’s first press briefing Tuesday afternoon, as President Trump continues to issue a bevy of executive orders impacting the military and federal agencies.
Trump issued four new executive orders late Monday that bar transgender people from serving in the military, reinstate service members that left or were forced out of the military due to refusing COVID-19 vaccinations, plans for developing an Iron Dome-like defense shield for the U.S. and abolish diversity programs within the Pentagon and Department of Homeland Security.
The latest orders come just days after the president ousted more than a dozen inspectors general, which has led to some scrutiny and questions around the future of federal oversight.
The event was scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EST.
