Watch: Trump tours US-Mexico border during Arizona visit
Former President Trump is slated to take a tour of the southern border Thursday as the campaign this week has focused its events on major policy issues ahead of November, including the economy, crime and immigration.
The border tour comes just a day before he and his running mate Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) hold a campaign rally in Glendale, a suburb of Phoenix, Friday evening. Vance, who is holding a rally Thursday evening in Georgia, is also set to speak on immigration.
The event follows Trump’s praise earlier this year of the collapse of a bipartisan border bill — legislation that took months to negotiate. The team has also tried to paint his Democratic rival, Vice President Harris, as a failed “border czar.”
In The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling index, Trump is leading Harris by a razor-thin margin in the Grand Canyon State — with 47.3 percent support to her 47.2 percent.
The event in Sierra Vista, Ariz., is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
