Watch: Trump makes play for blue New Mexico
Former President Trump campaigned Thursday afternoon in New Mexico, his latest effort to rally up voters in traditional blue states.
During his visit to the Land of Enchantment, a slight detour from the battleground states, Trump was expected to target Vice President Harris and the Biden administration over record prices, the border crisis, fracking and tax hikes, according to the campaign.
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s (DDHQ) election forecast shows New Mexico as “likely Dem.” Democrats have largely held office statewide since 2019, and the party’s presidential nominees have won since 2008. In 2020, President Biden widened the margin for the left.
With less than a week until the election, The Hill/DDHQ’s polling index shows Harris ahead of Trump in the state by more than 8 points — 49.2 percent to 40.9 percent.
The event in Albuquerque, N.M., was scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. EDT.
