Watch live: Trump discusses economy in battleground Michigan

Former President Trump will make a campaign stop in the suburbs of Grand Rapids, Mich., Friday afternoon, delivering remarks focused on manufacturing and the economy.

His last visit to the Great Lakes State earlier this month came just days after the Secret Service thwarted an apparent second assassination attempt on the GOP nominee’s life. During that campaign town hall, the former president painted a bleak picture of what would happen to the auto industry if he does not win in November, offering up exaggerated claims about the fate of thousands of jobs across the country.

Trump and his Democratic opponent, Vice President Harris, remain neck and neck in the battleground state. With less than six weeks left until Election Day, the former president currently trails Harris by just more than a point — 47.7 percent to her 48.8 percent — according to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling index.

Trump is also expected to host a town hall event Friday evening in Warren, Mich., a suburb of Detroit.

His remarks from FALK Production in Walker, Mich., are scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT.
