Watch: Senate Intel panel grills tech execs on election interference
Executives from Microsoft, Google’s parent company Alphabet and Meta — which owns Facebook and Instagram — provided testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee Wednesday about attempts by actors like Russia, China and Iran to exert covert influence on U.S. public opinion in the runup to this year’s election.
The FBI has warned of an expanding array of propaganda outlets aimed at affecting the election’s outcome. A survey earlier this year by an Israeli security firm discovered thousands of fake accounts on the social media platform X commenting on the White House race.
