WATCH: Frightening moment cruise ship halls flood with water

Cruise ship passengers have filmed the horrific moment when water began gushing into an area on board the ship.

Footage from inside the Carnival Dream, taken during a cruise in the western Caribbean this week, was posted on Facebook by Marla DeAnn Haase and captured the unexpected occurrence.

It shows the water pouring out inside a flooded hallway, reportedly after a water line break.

“Um….FB folks…..this is a rare moment of internet connection ….we are flooding on a cruise, we heard the violins and the silverware all came crashing down. What in the world….say a prayer for us all,” the passenger, Marla DeAnn Haase wrote.

It is reported that about 50 staterooms on the ship were impacted by the flooding.

The holidaymakers had been nearing the end of their week-long trip when the incident occurred on Thursday.

Marla DeAnn Haase uploaded another clip, which shows staff cleaning up the inundated corridor. They appear to be filling up buckets of water and removing them from the flooded hallway.

A brand ambassador for Carnival Cruise Line John Heald, posted a video after the area was cleaned up, saying they apologise about the incident and appreciate guests’ understanding.

Mr Heald wrote, “On Thursday, May 3 at approximately 6pm, there was a water line break on Carnival Dream that impacted guests in approximately 50 staterooms on Deck 9.

“Our onboard teams began cleanup immediately related to this clean water from a fire suppression system.”

According to the ambassador, impacted guests would receive a full refund and a 50 per cent credit for another cruise in the future.

They were also given the option to leave the ship prior to the end of their voyage, Mr Heald said.

The next cruise is not expected to be impacted.
