WATCH: Apple investigating after iPhone 6 explodes in man's hand
Apple is investigating after a man in the US claims his iPhone 6 exploded in his hands.
Abd Ghaith, of New York City, told ABC7 Eyewitness News he was texting a friend when his phone blew up.
It was then smoking for nearly 20 minutes while working at his grocery store on Friday morning.
“I put the phone on the charger and then as I'm holding the phone it started like a little smoke coming out of the left side of the phone,” Mr Ghaith said.
“And then when I pulled the case back to see what it was the phone literally just exploded.”
CCTV footage from inside the supermarket shows Mr Ghaith panicking as the phone begins to violently emit smoke.
He claims the phone burnt his thumb and left a mark on the floor after he dropped it.

Mr Ghaith said he’s relieved he received a text message and not a call at the time, otherwise the phone might have been near his face when it exploded.
He wants a replacement phone at no cost.
An Apple spokesperson said in a statement it will “analyse the device”.
It's not known if the Brooklyn man was using an Apple charger at the time.
