Watch on-air hosts react to L.A. earthquake live on TV: 'I almost lost my life!'
A 4.7 magnitude quake near Malibu rocked Southern California early Thursday morning.
A magnitude 4.7 earthquake north of Malibu rattled Southern California on Thursday, jolting stunned on-air anchors during the morning's live news broadcasts.
The earthquake struck at around 7:28 a.m. and was felt across Thousand Oaks, Calabasas, and the Los Angeles area, with the epicenter closest to the Malibu fault. Among the anchors on-air who felt the temblor mid-program include ABC7's Marc Cota-Robles and The Facility's James Jones.

Cota-Robles had just begun a segment about cinnamon this pumpkin spice season when the temblor struck mid-sentence. "Oh, we've got an earthquake," he said. "We certainly do. We're shaking pretty good." As the studio shook, a composed Cota-Robles surmised it was a 3- or 4-magnitude quake.

Jones, on the other hand, was fully committed to the task at hand this morning. The former NFL athlete was in discussions with Emmanuel Acho, LeSean McCoy, and Chase Daniel about quarterback Baker Mayfield when the studio began to aggressively shake. He was undeterred and moved along with the segment until his fellow analyst cut him off.
"Hold on, James!" yelled McCoy. "It's an earthquake! Talking about Baker Mayfield, I almost lost my life!"

Meanwhile, the morning news team at Fox 11 Los Angeles also rode out the quake on air. Amanda Salas, Melvin Robert and Jenn Lahmers calmly shared their observations from their shaky morning. "That is an earthquake that we just experienced," Robert said. "That's still going."
