A Melbourne man wanted on 20 outstanding warrants has been arrested after a short pursuit.
Police first spotted a car with false number plates being driven erratically on the Western Port Highway about 11pm on Saturday. When they tried to intercept the vehicle, the driver sped away, sparking a pursuit in Skye.
The driver, a 32-year-old man, then dumped the car and tried to flee on foot but was chased down by officers.
An imitation firearm and what is believed to be a small quantity of methylamphetamine were allegedly found in the stolen car. It was also discovered the man was wanted on more than 20 outstanding warrants.
