'Why would you kill babies?': Family 'agonising' over massacre tragedy

The family of a Perth grandmother found dead along with her daughter and three grandchildren say they spend every waking moment in agony over why the tragedy happened.

On Wednesday, Antony Robert Harvey faced court accused of murdering his partner Mara Harvey, his mother-in-law Beverley Quinn, and his three young children Charlotte, Alice and Beatrix.

“They didn’t deserve this,” Beverley Quinn’s distraught sister Wendy Frost said.

“They really didn’t. And I just want to know why, we all want to know why.”

Maureen Devereux and Wendy Frost made a mercy dash to Perth from New Zealand and Queensland after learning their sister Beverley had been murdered.

“I’ve had her as my sister for 75 years,” Maureen Devereux said. “I can’t forget.”

“Why would you kill babies?,” Wendy added.

“I don’t understand that. Why would you kill babies?”

The children’s alleged killer – their father – faced court via a video link on Wednesday.

Asked how she felt seeing his face on video screen, Wendy said: “I don’t think we can say how we feel about that.

“It’s not legal.”

Beverley Quinn should be celebrating a birthday next Saturday.

Instead, her relatives are planning a funeral for her and four other family members.
