Here we are in the shank of autumn: The leaves are falling, the pumpkin everything is on the table...and the fall sales are in full bloom (irony!). It's that time of year when a consumer's thoughts turn to shoring up the domicile—with a new TV, a vacuum that actually works, some new bed linens, maybe a replacement laptop for the students in our brood.

Walmart's here to help with all of it, and then some. Of course, thorough as we are, we can only scratch the surface of their soup-to-nuts offerings, so we’re tipping you off to a slew of the most bangin' bargains on offer.

Want to make these deals even sweeter? A Walmart+ membership will supersize your savings. You can get yourself a free 15-day trial here, and a quick three-question survey will add on an additional two more weeks for a solid month's use. (And by the way, those without Walmart+ still get free shipping on orders of $35 or more.)

So, give the foliage watching and apple picking a rest, and get shopping!

Crystal
Crystal "you" persuasion: You really, really, really, really, really ought to buy one of these! (Photo: Walmart)

How do we love the Samsung 50" Class 4K Crystal UHD (2160p) LED Smart TV with HDR? Let us count the ways.

That Crystal in its name? Well, that stands for both this slamming set's Dynamic Crystal Color, which regales your eyeballs with literally millions of different colors — if it's on the spectrum, you're gonna see it. But that's not all: Its Crystal Processor with UHD Upscaling essentially converts old (i.e., pre–digital age) content to 4K quality. It's like being able to turn Nick at Nite into HBO!

Are you strictly into contemporary content? Well, you'll appreciate the HDR (high dynamic range) that'll bring new, previously unrealizable depths of detail and color from your favorite streaming fare.

Sports fan? Action-movie maven? Gaming gourmand? Then get a load of this set's Motion Xcelerator. It makes even the most head-spinningly fast action lucid and digestible — no blurring!

Yes, all that and so much more (including multiple voice-assistant compatibility, three HDMI inputs, access to more streaming services than you can name and cellphone mirroring). But we've saved the juiciest treat for last: This baby is now a ridonculous $270 (that's more than one third) off! And now, like the good pitchmen we are, there's nothing left but to ask: What are you waiting for?

The word Pro is right in their name — do you think they don't know what they're doing? (Photo: Walmart)

Really, if you've got any real experience listening to personal-audio devices, what can we possibly tell you about the excellence of Apple AirPods Pro that you don't already know?

We could talk about their unparalleled noise cancellation, which puts you deep inside your tunes, audiobooks and podcasts while keeping the crazy cacophonous world out. Alternately, we could tell you about their Transparency mode, which allows you to keep aware of the sounds in your imminent vicinity. Or I suppose we could tell you that their Adaptive EQ function actually takes into account the shape of your ear when delivering the sound into it. Nuts, eh?

But you know all that; that's why you've wanted a pair for so long. So know this: AirPods aren't discounted all that often, and this is one of those times: Snag a pair for $22 off. Who knows when you'll get another chance at a deal like that. But you probably already know that, too...

Best laptop sales

For our featured weekend-sale products, we often opt for the grandiose: the 85" television, the $500 security cam, the robovac that can do everything but cook your dinner. But sometimes we like to turn you on to an item that's not crazy-sophisticated, not a bells-and-whistles-fest of capabilities and features that sound impressive but that you'll likely never use, and not bank-breaking. Just a solid, dependable, machine whose only OMG component is its not-to-be-missed sale price. This is one of those times.

The Gateway FHD notebook is the kind of unglamorous workhorse that'll see you through any task you throw at it. Its 10th Gen Intel i3 processor, 128 GB of solid state storage and 1080p HD resolution will see to that. It won't quit on you, either, thanks to the 8.5 hours of battery life you'll get on a single charge.

"Yes, but it's got Windows 10. Isn't Windows 11 going to arrive any day now?" Why, yes, but guess what? This deal includes a free upgrade to 11 when the time comes. (That is, if you find you even want Windows 11. As some of us have learned the hard way, "new" doesn't always mean "better" when it comes to Windows. Vista, anyone?)

It's also got stereo speakers three USB ports, one HDMI port and Bluetooth capability, as it should. Nothing earth-shattering, we know. But here's the deal: At just $450, down from its original price of $700, you'll be getting a lot of machine that will do you right for a long time. Perfect as a second laptop, an all-purpose, all-family unit to leave on the coffee table or kitchen counter, or the belated back-to-school gift you forgot to get for your favorite student. It's a cliche to say "you can't go wrong with this," but in this case, it's really kind of true.
