Everyone knows about the amazing perks you get with Amazon Prime, including two-day shipping and access to insane deals on Amazon Prime Day. But now Walmart has revealed their own handsome membership perk program — and it's cheaper too. Here's what we know about Walmart+.

What is Walmart Plus?

The multi-channel discount retailer, known for its affordable products across groceries, clothing, electronics, just launched a membership program called Walmart+. The membership gives you exclusive access to benefits that are aimed to help shoppers save time and money. Members can take advantage of free unlimited, same-day delivery with the same everyday low prices customers love.

The service will cost members $98 year (or $12.95 a month), an attractive comparison to Amazon Prime's $119 annual fee. If you don't want to commit fully just yet, Walmart+ offers a 15-day free trial.

How does Walmart Plus compare to Amazon Prime?

Walmart + members can expect:

  • Free, unlimited delivery at the same everyday low prices

  • Same-day delivery to save shopping time

  • Contactless, fast and easy checkout via your own phone as you shop in-store

  • Exclusive member prices on fuel

At an initial glance, Walmart+ alleged perks already seem to be modeled after Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime currently offers same-day delivery on select items at an additional fee, as well as access to special sales that only Prime members can take advantage of.

However, being exclusively online, Amazon doesn't have any gas discounts to offer, and is $21 more than its counterpart.

Amazon launched its Amazon Prime membership program back in 2005, so they've had more time to build a sense of loyalty and trust with its 112 million users. However, Walmart recently reported it raked in $524 billion in fiscal year revenue.
