Incredible moment cops save boy dying in his mum's arms as he choked on a grape

Police have saved the life of a Perth toddler in a remarkable case of being in the right place at the right time.

When 18-month-old Zac Wali from Southern River started choking on a grape, his mother Sehar saw the life start to drain from his body.

"He was lifeless, a blue colour I've never seen before," Senior Constable Daniel Pryce said.

Senior Constable Pryce and two other police officers just happened to be nearby at the time, doing random breath tests.

They were at the scene in just minutes, but Zac had already stopped breathing.

"You could just see there was no life in the baby at the time," Constable Nik Bergant said. "Part of me was really scared."

An ambulance was on the way, and a neighbour who happened to be a doctor was also on hand, but it was the team of policemen that managed to bring Zac back to life.

"I managed to get half a grape," Senior Constable Pryce said. "That was enough for us to start doing CPR and bring him back."

"All I remember is his big dark eyes, his eyes were wide open, just looking straight up," Senior Constable John Hennah said.

"They saved my son's life," a grateful Sehar said, calling the police officers "true heroes."

"They did not give up."
