Girl who suffered electric shock from garden tap dealt another cruel blow

A Perth girl who suffered a near-fatal electric shock when she touched a garden tap has been dealt another cruel blow.

Denishar Woods, who was left in a vegetative state when a powerful shock delivered 230 volts through her body, has now also lost her sight.

Lacey Harrison said doctors confirmed her daughter had lost her vision after a test on Thursday.

Ms Harrison said she is still holding out hope her daughter’s sight will come back.

Investigators are still trying to determine who was responsible for the fault which electrified the water pipes at the public housing property.

Earlier this month Energy Safety officers visited Denishar at the Princess Margaret Hospital and gave her family an update on their investigation.

Ms Harrison said she was told the most likely cause was a broken wire.

“Instead of the electricity going back out into the street to the main transformer, it has circulated around my house,” she told reporters last week.

Chief electrical inspector Peter Johnston, who met with Denishar’s family to update them on the investigation, told 7 News field testing was ongoing.

“The service lead had an open circuit neutral so we are investigating that," Mr Johnston said.

"We are also investigating why there was such a voltage at the property.”
