Toddler dies after wandering unsupervised onto busy freeway
A three-year-old girl has been killed in a tragic accident on a busy Perth highway.
The toddler, who was not with her parents, walked out onto the road and in front of a ute, police said.
The accident was so shocking that people who didn't even know the little girl were in tears at the scene.
"How does a child escape?", one witness wondered. "How does a child get onto a main road?"
It was approximately 6.30am when the toddler wandered onto busy Albany Highway in Gosnells.
It's understood that a driver noticed the little girl on the road, pulled over and tried to coax her to safety when the toddler was hit by a Toyota Hilux ute.
The 30-year-old driver didn't see her.
