The bizarre anonymous letter sent to infamous stadium streaker's family

A man who streaked across Perth's Optus Stadium during a one-day cricket match may be regretting his moment of tomfoolery after a bizarre anonymous letter was sent to his father requesting the family leave town.

On Sunday Ben Jenkins' sister Laura posted a picture of the letter, signed "the good and decent citizens of Toodyay", to her Facebook page.

The letter refers to "The Jenkins Incident" as a "thoughtless, childish and disgusting act" after the 23-year-old plumber, who faces up to $12,000 in fines, became the first person to streak across the new sports stadium during a one-day International between Australia and England.

The letter berates Jenkins for "bringing great shame and disgrace to this community" and adds that it may take the people of Toodyay "generations" to overcome the embarrassment.

It adds that one eight year old girl was so disgusted by what she had seen that she was "considering becoming a lesbian."

"After much careful deliberation, we the good & decent citizens of Toodyay have decided the only course of action that could possibly allow this community to recover from 'The Jenkins Incident' is for you & your entire family to leave the area as soon as possible, if not sooner," the letter states.

"If you approach any of our Real Estate agents, they have all said they will try & sell your property but they don't think you will get much for it because it now has a 'reputation'."

While it's unclear if the letter is serious or a hoax, it ends on an ominous note: "We will also be attempting to have all records of your family's existence in Toodyay destroyed."

After the streaking incident on January 28, Mr Jenkins was hit with a three-year ban on attending any cricket matches at an Australian venue by Cricket Australia.

Mr Jenkins recently set up a Go Fund Me page to help pay for his fine. The $5000 target has already been met and surpassed.

When his sister posted the letter to Facebook, comments were mostly positive and supportive.

"Dear Mr Jenkins, your sons [sic] recent hilarious & courageous act at the Optus Stadium has brought endless laughter to this community. Many men, women and children have been affected by this and will be spoken about for generations in this community as 'the legend of Jenko'," one person wrote.

"Dear Jenko's dad, your son is a bloody legend and I think they should have a statue of him when you enter Toodyay," another wrote.
