Horrific collision shows 'why you should never overtake on double white lines'
A driver’s attempt to overtake another car has ended in a horrific collision on a dangerous stretch of road in regional Western Australia.
Horrific dashcam footage has been released showing the moment the impatient sedan crosses the double white lines and begins to overtake the blue 4WD in front of it on Boxing Day.
Filmed on Jerramungup Road near Gnowangerup in WA’s Great Southern region, the driver appears to take little notice of the bend in the road ahead.
After passing the car in the right-hand lane, a second 4WD emerges from around the bend, with little time to react.
Rather than attempting to merge back into the left lane, the sedan driver slams the brakes and attempts to veer right onto the side of the road.

With nowhere else to go, the oncoming 4WD smashes into the sedan sending it spinning out of control before nearly flipping on its roof.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged but remarkably everyone in the crash walked away without serious injury.
The driver of the sedan, a 27-year-old South Australian man, was charged with dangerous driving, police said.
He was scalded by social media users after the video was emerged on Facebook.
“Why you should never overtake on double white lines,” the post read.
