Toddler cut and bloodied after falling off 'razor-sharp' travelator

A two year old boy has been left cut and bloodied after a fall on the moving walkway at a revamped shopping centre in Perth.

His family say he's one of many children injured on the Mandurah Forum travelator and want it made safer.

Little Brock cut his tiny hands and gashed his knees in the fall.

"The blood was just everywhere and he was screaming," his grandmother Mandy Naysmith said.

Brock was a few steps ahead of his ahead of his grandma on the walkway when he fell just before getting off.

"It just kept going," Mrs Naysmith said.

"I think that's what made it worse, because he couldn't get up."

Trapped at the end of the travelator, the moving walkway pushed him into what Mrs Naysmith described as a "razor-sharp" off-step.

Brock's mother said she was horrified when she saw his injuries.

"All his hands are infected - they're quite green and pus-y," Lisa Daniels said.

"And his knees are starting to get like that as well."

Her post on social media attracted comments from others who described similar falls and near misses at the multi-million dollar revamped complex.

A spokesperson for Mandurah Forum says all their travelators come with emergency stop buttons, and anti-slip treatment.

They also recommended that children hold the hand of an adult when on a moving walkway.

However, Brock's mother wants the travelators to be safer in the first place.

"Just something so it's safer for everybody," Lisa Daniels said.

"Not just the kids and the elderly, but everyone."
