WATCH: Disturbing video shows violent encounter as police officers are attacked

A violent encounter between members of the public and police has been caught on camera.

Disturbing footage shows the the group clash with officers at a home in Albany, southern Western Australia, on November 2 leaving a number of officers bloodied.

Several police officers responded to reports of a man with an axe but on arrival were confronted by a large number of aggressive people.

Tempers began to flare before police spotted the man they wanted to talk to.

A woman can be heard shouting at police informing them that no one has an axe and there was no reason for them to be there.

Police disagreed and forced their way into the house, but as they did, all hell broke loose.

Seconds after one man is tasered you can see a uniformed officer roll to the ground clutching his head, after he was allegedly hit with an axe handle.

Moments later the officer seen holding the taser reels backwards clutching his face after he was allegedly hit in the head with a full beer can.

During the violent scuffle a third officer is allegedly assaulted and received facial injuries.

With officers injured police retreat to the street and one man is arrested.

Once outside, the injuries to the officer allegedly hit with a beer can are clearly visible as blood pours down his face.

The three injured police officers were treated at Albany Hospital and have now been released.

Two men have each been charged with assaulting a public officer.
