Teenage girl saved by classmates after suffering heart attack

A Western Australian teenage girl was saved by fellow students when she suffered a heart attack at school.

On Wednesday, September 13 Telita Calley was walking between classes at Kingsway Christian College in Perth when she collapsed.

A GoFundMe page, started to raise money to cover Telita’s medical bills, said the 16-year-old’s heart stopped.

But luckily, other students knew how to revive her.

According to the crowdfunding page, the students had received first aid and CPR training, which “ultimately has saved her life”.

Her twin brother Joel then managed to find their father Marty, a teacher at the school, and he took over CPR until paramedics arrived.

They found Telita’s heart has a serious rhythm disturbance and was in ventricular fibrillation.

“Telita is currently stable and in hospital awaiting a defibrillator to be surgically fitted to her heart,” the page reads.

“During this time her mother has been by her side, taking time off work without pay.”

The page hopes to raise money for the teen’s family while she recovers from her heart attack.
