Heartbreaking story behind triple crash fatality

More devastating stories have emerged following Thursday's head-on triple fatality in WA.

The crash that killed three people has left four children without their mother and little brother.

There has been an outpouring of grief from friends of 38-year-old Vinny Shanti and her six-year-old son Nalu, who were killed along with an 83-year-old man in the horrific crash on Indian Ocean Drive.

It has emerged that the Shanti family had just lost their Yanchep home in a fire - and the elderly man who also died had lost his wife to illness just three months ago.

Police, Main Roads and the Road Safety Commission will gather next week to work out how to stop the ongoing loss of life along this dangerous stretch of road, which has claimed six lives in eight months.

"I think it should be like Forest Highway, a dual carriageway all the way through," one neighbour said.

"Clearly there's a problem with that section of road," Premier Mark McGowan said.

The Department of Main Roads was reportedly surveying the area on Friday, but all that remains of Thursday's tragedy now are a few skid marks, some flower bouquets and a sense of grief in the local community.
