Two dogs that mauled a Perth woman to death have been seized by rangers and handed over to police while an investigation into what happened is carried out.

Sue Lopicich, aged in her 50s, died yesterday after a savage attack at a property in Southern River which also serves as a canine boarding kennel.

The woman received life threatening injuries from the dogs, believed to be a mastiff and a Staffordshire bull terrier, and she was declared dead by St Johns Ambulance officers.

According to neighbours, the woman's body was found by her daughter after she did not show up to work.

The dogs were seized by City of Gosnells Rangers, who said the dogs were microchipped and registered to the kennel owners.

A St John Ambulance spokeman said the crew could not approach the woman until one of the dogs was controlled, as it was preventing access to the body of the deceased woman.

There have been no reports of any prior incidents involving the two dogs.

Ms Lopicich's death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
