'His smile was infectious': Young woman loses husband in boating tragedy
A young Mandurah woman, who has been left a widow by a boating tragedy, says she’s gone from planning a family to planning a funeral.
Amy Price’s husband Matthew was killed in a freak accident, after he was hit by a boat’s propeller on a day out with friends in Ravenswood.
“He just loved me so much,” Mrs Price said through tears.
“And I loved him too … that won’t change.”
Amy and Matthew first met in Kalgoorlie and just seven months ago, were married in a dream wedding in Mexico.
But Mrs Price’s dreams turned to horror on Saturday when the couple were out on the Murray River on a friend’s near-eight metre cabin cruiser.
The 27-year-old Matthew was hit in the freak accident, and rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries.
Sadly, Matthew died on Sunday night.
“He’s going to live on forever … he’s with all of us,” Mrs Price said surrounded by family and friends.
“(Matthew) desperately wanted a family … if the stars align, a miracle might still happen.”
Police are investigating how the accident happened, and have seized the boat for forensic examination.
