Family rallies around Mandurah bash victim
A fundraising page has been set up for a Perth mother who survived a brutal home invasion in Mandurah that claimed the life of her partner.
Erelle Mason was allegedly hit in the face with a brick at the couple’s Halls Head unit on Saturday morning.
In what police say was a random assault, Erelle’s partner Scott Martin was killed in the horror attack.
“(Erelle’s) in a terrible state, she’s really broken and emotionally very distressed,” Erelle’s stepfather Graham Hood said.
“Her teeth have all been smashed in, not just fallen out. They’re broken and smashed.”
It’s alleged 38-year-old Damian Maxfield entered the couple’s apartment and stabbed Scott to death, before attacking Erelle.
Erelle was able to fight back inside the couple’s top floor apartment and get help.
Seven News understands Maxfield used to live in the same apartment complex.
It’s now a double tragedy for Erelle who lost her baby boy Mason to SIDS almost two years ago.
Mr Hood has started a GoFundMe page for his stepdaughter, to help the 32-year-old rebuild.
“Her face is in quite some need of repair,” Mr Hood said.
“We don’t want her to look in the mirror and remember that incident for the rest of her life.”
Maxfield has been charged with Scott's murder and attempt to unlawfully kill and will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on January 25.
