Police hunt gunman after man shot in the leg

A Perth man has undergone emergency surgery after being shot in the leg in Perth’s east.

Jake Turner, 19, was shot near his groin on Tuesday afternoon with the bullet luckily missing a main artery.

Officers were called to the Midvale home around 12.45pm after neighbours reported hearing a gunshot.

“I heard arguments and then gunshots and then the red Monaro sped off,” one witness said.

Mr Turner’s family has told 7 News they believe the shooting was over a long-running dispute involving drugs.

Police have also confirmed the shooter was known to the 19-year-old.

Mr Turner is reportedly stable in hospital with police now trying to find a red Holden Monaro seen leaving the scene.

Police have warned anyone who sees the vehicle to call 131 444 and not approach the driver.
