This story contains spoilers from season 4 of Virgin River.
Virgin River season 4 only dropped this past July, but fans are already calling for the release of season 5 on Netflix. While it will be sometime before the streamer can make this wish come true, the show is gifting dedicated viewers exciting filming sneak peeks.
In a series of videos shared on the hit drama's official Instagram account, Virgin River fans got a behind-the-scenes look of how shooting new season 5 episodes is going. In one clip, Doc (Tim Matheson), Jack (Martin Henderson) and director Martin Wood talk intensely about the scene they're about to film while standing on the steps of Virgin River's resident doctor's office.
"I hope you’re as excited for S5 as we are! ❤️," the show captioned the clip on September 1.
Clearly excited about the prospect of a new season coming sooner than expected, Virgin River fans flooded the Instagram comments section to voice their thoughts.

"Yassssssss! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Im hooked on this show, can’t wait to see what's next😆," one fan wrote. "We DEFINITELY are!!!!!! It can’t come fast enough 🤎🤎🤎," another replied. "When [will there be] a video of martin and alex in season 5 😢," a different fan asked.
Someone on the show's team must have anticipated this question because a video featuring Martin, Alexandra Breckenridge (Mel) and Colin Lawrence (Preacher) appeared on Instagram in mid-August. In the snippet, the trio stands lakeside before quickly crowding together to capture a cast selfie.
So, are there any clues of what season 5 could possibly be about? Not necessarily. Folks may remember season 4 ended quite explosively with many revelations coming to the surface. Jack discovered that he was the father of Mel's baby, all while discovering his impending twins with Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) weren't his children at all.
Hope (Annette O'Toole) will have help from Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) after spending season 4 trying to avoid the fact that she was recovering from a brain injury. Doc spent time with his grandson Denny (Kai Bradbury) after it's revealed he has Huntington's disease. Plus, we can't forget that our resident Virgin River couple is now engaged, meaning it might be time for (another) wedding!
If there's one thing we do know, it's that the show will dive straight into the events of last season. "Season 5 picks up right after season 4," showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told TVLine in July. "There’s no time jump between four and five."
Hopefully, it won't be much longer before we find out more details!
