With school holidays fast approaching, Virgin Australia has slashed the price of hundreds of thousands of flights as part of a 48-hour sale.

The prices of both domestic and international flights from January 10 through to September 12 next year have dropped significantly, with some under $50.

Travellers seeking flights from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast will only have to cough up $69 and $79 respectively.

A one-way flight from Sydney to Byron Bay/Ballina is as low as $49 as part of the Cyber Monday deal.

Further offers have been extended to other international hotspots including Tokyo and Queenstown, with prospective travellers having until Tuesday at midnight to snatch up the discounted flights.

For Velocity Frequent Flyers, Virgin Australia has also offered bonus point offers on their Velocity e-Store until Thursday at midnight.

In time for Christmas shopping, Velocity members can make the most of online deals, with customers afforded 50 per cent off selected home and fashion items at Myer.
