Scuba diver's terrifying brush with Great White

A scuba diver has survived a terrifying close encounter with a Great White Shark near Bryon Bay last weekend.

Steven Bock was diving at Julian Rocks, an island off the north coast of New South Wales when the shark emerged suddenly from the depths.

Mr Bock captured the moment on film, while the shark swam within two metres distance of him.

The three-metre-long beast can be seen crawling the ocean floor, followed by small fish.

It seems completely disinterested in Mr Bock’s presence.

Taking no chances, though, Mr Bock hides behind a section of coral until the shark had disappeared into the gloom, narrowly escaping becoming its lunch.

However, the dancing school owner told the Daily Mail that he was not frightened by the encounter “because the shark was swimming calmly.”

Indeed, he seemed thrilled by the fact he saw the shark so close up, saying that he felt fortune for the experience.

“I have spoken to many divers, some who have had thousands of dives at Julian Rocks and have never seen a great white shark,” he said.

Mr Bock remained underwater for more than half an hour after the shark left.
