Potty-beaked parrot falls fowl of police

This parrot is no stool pigeon, but he has ruffled a few feathers.

Police in India ‘arrested’ the bird after complaints its owner had trained it to shower his mother with expletives whenever she walked by.

The parrot, named Hariyal, lives in Rajura, a village in the central Indian state of Maharashtra.

According to Jana Bai, her Suresh Sakharkar trained the bird in the gentle art of verbal abuse, and left her on the receiving end of foul-beaked tirades for the past two years.

According to Reuters, police collared the profane parrot but struggled to pin charges, because Indian legislators (unbelievably) have not yet passed laws to punish potty-mouthed pets.

They were also unable to prove the allegations one way or the other, because the parrot refused to turn canary on Sakharkar and kept its beak shut during its time in the police station.
