Bold Sydney teen snaps Great White selfie

A shark sighting is usually cause for panic.

Not for one Sydney teen though who saw it as a photo opportunity he just couldn’t miss.

Alex Hayes was on his surf board near Clontarf Beach when he spotted a large shark in the water to right.

Instead of paddling for his life, the youngest coolly grabbed a hold of his GoPro and snapped a selfie, because why not?

He posted the photo to his Instagram account, which he regularly uses to update friends on his surfing adventures.

“So... I went for a paddle out front, decided to stop have a rest and then saw this bad boy, at first I freaked and then I saw that he was a chiller and just cruisin,” he wrote.

“Luckily I brought my #gopro otherwise no one would've Believed me..

“Changes my perspective about sharks they aren't all dangerous !”
The post has led many to speculate on exactly what sort of toothy predator Alex encountered.

Some social media users countered his belief that it was a bull shark though, claiming the size of the creature indicated he may have come close to meeting a great white.
