A TikTok hack that started going viral as borders opened around the world this year is being slammed as 'risky' and 'embarrassing'. The sneaky hack sees passengers filling empty pillowcases with clothes and taking them on board the plane as free extra luggage.
TikToker Anastasiia Sevilla, who goes by @nolimitua on the app, shared how she successfully used the hack, saving herself extra cash on an overweight bag. Anastasiia wrote, "The best travel hack ever!!! 'Pillow' flies for free."
In the video, she packs her extra clothing into the pillow and gets through security and onto the plane without any drama. However, many TikTok users pointed out that the X-ray machines would show exactly what was inside the pillowcase.
"Have you ever heard of X-ray monitors?" one user commented, while another added, "I'm an agent, thanks for the heads up."
"Has no one traveled on an airplane before? This isn’t a hack. They let you take one bag on for free. She doesn’t even need to put it in a pillow case," a third pointed out.
"Or you could just use a regular back pack. You are allowed a personal item lol," someone else agreed.
Other TikTok users have commented that the hack is "embarrassing". One user wrote, "Nah I’d rather pay the extra weight and save myself the embarrassment if caught."
"I’ll be so embarrassed if it’s now me that they catch," another agreed, with a third saying it's "risky" and could cause more airlines to check pillows and potentially risk the plane being overweight.
However, others loved it, with one user writing, "TSA doesn’t care if you paid for extra luggage lol. This is genius!!!"
"A genius hack!" another wrote, with a third adding, "Love the idea, thanks for sharing."
