'The View's Sunny Hostin Makes a Bold Political Declaration After Election Results

The View host Sunny Hostin joined her co-stars for the show on Wednesday, Nov. 6, with all of them in a subdued mood.

The group of women reacted to Donald Trump winning the 2024 election against Vice President Kamala Harris, with Hostin beginning by saying, "I'm profoundly disturbed...In 2016, we didn’t know what we would get from a Trump administration, but we know now."

She continued, talking about what his election might mean for her kids, saying, "I worry about my children’s future, especially my daughter, who now has less rights than I have. I remember my father telling me many, many years ago that I was the first person in his family to enjoy full civil rights. And now I have less civil rights than I had when he told me that.”

Hostin also mentioned that Trump was elected president as a convicted felon, declaring that "the convicted felon box on employment applications better be taken off, because if you can be the president of the United States, then you should not be prevented from employment in this country.”

The other The View hosts appeared to feel similarly, with Whoopi Goldberg, who was outspoken against Trump during the campaign, saying, "We just told people to vote, we didn’t tell them who to vote for.”

"So poignant and well said Sunny! 👏 I cried while you spoke...your opinions are widely felt 🫶💔," shared a fan in the comments of a clip from Wednesday's show on Instagram.

Others wrote, "Sunny, YOU SAID IT BEST!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸♥️," and "I totally agree with you Sunny!" There were also supporters of Trump mixed in who voiced their disagreement with The View hosts' statements.
