Emergency Rescue Crews Search for Survivors From Peru Bus Crash

Emergency rescue crews searched for survivors at the site of a deadly bus crash which killed dozens of passengers in Pasamayo, Peru, on Tuesday, January 2.

These videos shared by onlooker Alexander Palacios shows paramedics, firefighters, police and navy officers assisting at the crash site on the beach.

At least 36 people were killed in the accident, local news site Peru21 reported.

Six people were taken to hospital with injuries after the bus crashed following a collision with a tractor-trailer, CNN reported. Early investigations suggested both vehicles were “going too fast” at the time of the collision, according to a statement by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications quoted in the report.

President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski tweeted in Spanish that the accident was “very painful for us as a country”. “From the first moment I have arranged the immediate support for the rescue of the victims in this emergency,” . Credit: Facebook/Alexander Palacio via Storyful
