Airstrike on Boko Haram Gathering 'Neutralized' Militants, Nigerian Air Force Says

The Nigerian Air Force said on Saturday, November 4, that one of its aircraft bombed a building in Sambisa, Borno State, on October 30, after on-the-ground intelligence reported a significant meeting of the Boko Haram militant group there.

“In the closing stages of Operation RUWAN WUTA II, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) continued to rain significant fire on Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) hideouts, with intensive day and night aerial bombardments,” the air force said in a statement.

“On 30 October 2017, the NAF conducted an air interdictions mission on a blue-roofed structure in TALALA, a BHT infested location in Sambisa,” the Nigerian Air Force said. “Intelligence reports from NAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance platforms as well as Human Intelligence had revealed that a sizeable number of BHTs were holding a meeting in the blue-roofed building.”

The air force reported that the bombing “neutralized” members of the group inside the building. The strike was carried out using one of the Nigerian Air Force’s Alpha Jets. See photo. Credit: Nigerian Air Force via Storyful
