Five People Rescued After Boat Capsizes at Florida Inlet

A towboat capsized in the Sebastian Inlet, a popular surfing and fishing spot off the coast of eastern Florida, on Monday, October 16 after colliding with another vessel. All five people on board were rescued and suffered minor injuries.

The video from a Indian River County Sheriff’s Office helicopter shows the capsized towboat.

According to a local news report from TC Palm, the towboat capsized after it collided with the Sebastian Inlet Bridge while trying to rescue a stalled pontoon boat. The tide and current swept the capsized boat out to sea where it was found by the helicopter rescue crew.

This is the second capsize at the inlet within a week. On Thursday evening, a helicopter rescued three men who got caught in rough weather returning to shore from a fishing trip. Credit: Indian River County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
