Divers Encounter Humpback Whales on Shallow Reef in Tuamotus, French Polynesia

GoPro footage captured the moment wildlife and travel bloggers Melissa and Scott Saville encounter humpback whales in Tuamotus, French Polynesia, on September 7.

The couple told Storyful a pod of whales came up to their boat and swam nearby for about an hour. When the mother popped her head and eyes out of the water, the Savilles took it as an invitation for a swim and the couple put on their diving gear and joined the mammals.

The pair aims to promote a positive and sustainable relationship with the ocean and inspire others to find sustainable tourism options. Credit: Melissa and Scott Saville via Storyful
