California Wildfires Seen Burning From Space

More than a dozen wildfires broke out overnight in Northern California on Sunday, October 8, burning 73,000 acres of land and destroying over 1,500 structures in their path by Tuesday.

In Santa Rosa, the Tubbs fire spread 35,000 acres and had residents “running for their lives,” the Los Angeles Times reported. Two hospitals in Santa Rosa were also forced to evacuate their patients, according to local news outlets.

So far, at least ten deaths have been reported. The firestorm is said to be one of the worst in California history, and Gov Jerry Brown has declared a state of emergency in response.
