Rescues Continue Through the Night After Quake Flattens Buildings in Mexico City

Thousands of rescue workers and volunteers worked through the night searching for survivors under collapsed buildings in Mexico City after a powerful earthquake hit the region on Tuesday afternoon, September 19.

Over 200 people, including children, were reported to have died in the 7.1 magnitude quake, which toppled dozens of buildings throughout the Mexican capital. Among them was a school in the south of the city where at least 22 pupils died.
