Engagement Ring Tumbles Into Pond During Proposal

Loyal friends of a couple set to make their wedding vows in a Kansas City, Missouri, park had to take on unexpected roles when the groom dropped the wedding ring onto a bridge and saw it roll through a crack into the river below.

Seth Dixon was planning on proposing to his partner of four years, Ruth Marie Salas, at their favorite spot in Loose Park, Kansas City, according to an interview they gave to KMBC. As he got down on one knee and was about to pop the question, he fumbled with the ring and dropped it, sending it on the way to the river bottom.

According to a post from the photographer there to capture what was supposed to be a beautiful moment, friends turned up at the park and began fishing for the ring. Photos taken by Staci’s Dabney Photography show the friends diving in the water while the couple watched from the bridge above.

The ring was reportedly never found, but a GoFundMe page was created to replace it. As of writing, about $220 out of $4,000 has been raised. Credit: Maddie Villareal via Storyful
