Rare White Moose Spotted Grazing in Sweden

A second video of a rare white moose, spotted grazing in Sweden’s Varmland County on August 11, was released by Hans Nilsson on August 18.

Hans Nilsson told Storyful he captured the video between Charlottenberg and Gunarskog.

Nilsson describes himself as a “nature lover” and told Sweden’s Sveriges Radio the experience was “as great as seeing a leopard in Africa.”

Nilsson told Storyful that the moose is not albino and that Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala intends to test the DNA of the animal.

Nilsson, along with multiple sources, said white moose are rare. He told local reporters there were only 50 white moose in western Varmland, where the video was captured. Credit: Hans Nilsson via Storyful
