Sri Lanka Navy in New Elephant Sea Rescue

The Sri Lanka Navy saved two young elephants who were swept out to sea off the coast of Trincomalee on Sunday, July 23, in the second such rescue this month.

Navy patrol boats towed the pair back to a jungle area near Foul Point, according to Sri Lanka’s Daily Mirror newspaper. On July 11, navy sailors helped rescue a elephant that was found eight miles offshore in the Indian Ocean near Kokilai. Credit: Sri Lanka Navy via Storyful
