Police Arrest Man in Sydney on Counter-Terrorism Charges

Police arrested two teenagers on Friday, June 30, in Auburn, New South Wales, on counter-terrorism charges that including the illegal sale of firearms and of prohibited drugs.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the 18-year-olds unwittingly made sales to undercover operatives on a number of occasions.

“Many of our Joint Counter Terrorism Team investigators have experience in the organised crime environment; if they identify matters during the course of their investigations that concern the supply of drugs and firearms, they will act appropriately to prevent these commodities from reaching our streets and harming the community,” Australian Federal Police acting deputy commissioner of National Security Ian McCartney said.
