Tropical Storm Cindy Already Affecting Gulf Coast

Tropical Storm Cindy was having an effect on Gulf Coast weather, triggering flooding, before it became a named storm on Tuesday, June 20.

Roads on the west end of Dauphin Island, Alabama, were already flooded, according to a news report. Ferry service was suspended.

The National Hurricane Center upgraded the system to a named tropical storm on Tuesday afternoon, issuing warnings along the Louisiana coast. The storm was forecast to reach the coast between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Heavy rain and flash flooding were expected along the majority of the Gulf Coast.
