Emergency Services Respond to Scene of Manila Casino Attack

Dozens of people were killed when a gunman stormed a casino resort in Manila in the early hours of Friday morning.

Local TV station ABS CBN reported that at least 30 bodies had been recovered inside the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City following a stand off between police and the gunman.

Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella told ABS CBN that the victims had died of suffocation after the gunman, who has not been identified, set fire to himself on the second floor of the complex. At least 54 others were injured in the incident which local police had initially treated as robbery.

Resorts World Manila issued a statement saying the gunman was found dead around 7 am, with burns and gunshot wounds.
