A camera has caught a nurse playing on her phone while she was providing breathing assistance to a hospital patient.
Disturbing footage uploaded to Facebook on Wednesday shows the nurse squeezing a bag valve mask with her left hand while swiping her phone in her right.
As she does so, the male patient lies motionless in his hospital bed.
The incident reportedly happened at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, with The Johor Health Department saying the matter was being investigated, Malaysian news site The Star reported.
“A committee comprising specialists and nursing supervisor from HSA and JKN has started the investigations,” Director Dr Selahuddeen Abd Aziz said in a statement on Thursday.

“The Johor Health Department and (the hospital) have already met with the patient’s family members to get a detailed picture and information over the matter”.
Dr Selahuddeen Abd Aziz said if the nurse in question was found guilty of negligent behaviour, appropriate action would be taken.
